Here are some of the songs we might well be playing.  Obviously, to hear them at their best you need to buy the CD, but here's a taster...

One of the classic songs of Ireland,  the Fields of Athenry  tells the story of one couple's struggles against the  injustice of poverty and the pain that comes from the separation of transportation.

Then there's a set of reels, fast and furious - the Redhaired Boy, the Maid Behind the Bar and Drowsy Maggie although what the link between the three of them is I am not quite sure.  But there's a story in there somewhere...

Star of the County Down is, of course,  a love song,

Murphy's Bar is, not surprisingly, a song about the strange happening in a bar called Murphy's.  How the sheep got involved no-one is quite sure.  The song may not be entirely serious.

The Streets of New York is a song of homesickness, a song of someone remembering how they longed to be away from home and then how they long to be home again...

We often open the first  set with Come by the Hills.  This is a lovely song, the words written by Gordon Smith many years ago and set to an old  Gaelic tune.  Ralph and John re-arranged the accompaniment to suit the band's more uptempo feel, moving it gently away from the feel of a traditional folk song into a more modern setting while keeping its heart and soul intact.

They are taken from the band's first CD - I've ripped them at a reasonable rate but it certainly isn't CD quality.  You can, of course, always email us and get the original for the bargain sum of eight quid, or for a short demo CD if you just want a taster!

If you liked them, let us know.  If you liked them enough to feel like booking the band, you can email us from this link and we'll get in touch - our full contact details are available by clicking the button on the left.

.These are all in .wma format because I find they work better - if you would rather download the MP3s, here they all are again:
