As has been noted on a previous page, the band has a built in Caller in Arthur, who has been calling dances round the North of England for the past thirty years. This means that, as we are a three piece band, we can, for a relatively sensible amount of money, provide a terrific night of dancing as well as punctuating the evening with a few songs if required. Ceilidhs and barn dances are much of a muchness - no-one has ever really managed to tell the difference. Some say that ceilidhs have a more Celtic flavour while the barn dance is more American or English in origin, but in fact the two styles have merged over the years into more or less the same thing - a large number of people hurling themselves around a dance floor with a certain amount of abandon and generally having good time!
Basically, it's all good fun, and that's what it's for. Both John and Glynne have played in dance bands for years in addition to their roles in the vocal performance side of the band. We play jigs, reels, polkas and the odd waltz just to prove we can do the slow ones as well. We will even play a hornpipe or two just for the sake of variety. All in all, it's a perfect way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, harvest supper or just because you want to! If interested, drop me an email or give us a call and we'll discuss it with you. This being a three piece band, it's more suited to functions of, at most, about 150 people - if any bigger than that you probably need a bigger band - in which case we can expand to provide it or suggest alternatives. All in all, we'll make sure you have a good night out...
